Coach's Corner

This season has kicked off with a few ups and downs. We had very big wins vs Stafford 87-86 and University School 71-58. We began playing teams in our league losing to Brookfield 57-40 and had a tough road game the following night against a very strong team in Newtown, losing 71-51.

Tuesday night we had our first league home game against Weston. We battled throught the first stanza and were trailing 20-16 at the end of the first quarter. Weston played extremely well and opened up to a 45-22 halftime lead and cruised to a 69-52 victory.

Our team works as hard as any in the state in practice. We have a relatively young group of student/athletes that compete every time they step foot on the court both in practice and in games. I try to instill in them teamwork, communication, and work ethic. While wins and losses may be the barometer for some, I feel that improvement and continuing to strive to be the best you can be in athletics, as well as in life, is the ultimate goal. I will always be a proponent of family, responsibilty, work ethic, commitment, and teamwork as long as I am involved in the coaching arena. I truly care about my players and their lives. While I refuse to settle for anything less than being the best they can be I do understand we, as a team, have limitations. I will not let my players think that they cannot reach any goal they set forth in athletics or in life. I realize sometimes that it may not always appear that way, but I wear my heart on my sleeve and I will always be there for my players.

We have a tough road ahead. Our league is a very difficult one. I urge my players to enjoy the game that has always been a part of my life and always will be. To take each and every day they step onto the hardwood as if it could be their last, we do not know what's in store for us in this life. Appreciate your teammates, coaches, teachers, and family members. And do the best you can on the court, in the classroom, and in your homes.

Continue to support your basketball team. They have earned that right through their commitment.
